7 of the best go to salads

My husband and I were getting tired on the way we looked and I especially was scared of getting into a bathing suit.  I’m not one to do diets, because I can’t stick to them.  I have a hard time eating things that aren’t full flavored, which is the case with most diets.

We decided to simply do salads every week night to cut out all the unneeded breads, pastas, sugars, etc. and add in lots of vegetables.  Guys, let me tell you I felt great after one week.  I realized that most of the time I feel bloated but that’s become normal to me because I don’t know any different.  I also found myself making better choices on the weekend, which was our cheat days.

We tend to go to my parents every Sunday for a family lunch.  We also have dinner with friends or parties on Saturdays so I wanted to make sure we weren’t put in a position where we couldn’t enjoy or have that time with them.  Even though it was a free for all, I found myself saying no to seconds on bread (which NEVER happens) and yes to more veggies.  I would even opt for more salad.

I wanted to share my favorite go to salads that are sure to please a crowd and are full of lots of flavor.  Almost every salad can be made vegetarian or even vegan.  Swap out steak and chicken for beans, remove cheese, and offer vinaigrettes.

  1. Southwest Steak Salad
  2. Italian Salad
  3. Summer Strawberry Salad w/ Poppyseed Dressing
  4. Honey Mustard Chicken Salad
  5. Apple Cranberry Kale Salad
  6. Steak Cobb Salad
  7. BBQ Chicken Salad w/ Chipotle Ranch

Side note- My kids even loved most of these salads which is a huge win.  My daughter and middle son will sit and eat the steak and chicken salads like they are candy.

Enjoy!

Jackie
