If you love mushrooms, beef and wine…then this is the recipe for you!
I had just had our second child when we were introduced to this recipe. We had multitudes of friends bringing dinners over to help our little family as we adjusted to life with two children, one being only days old. A family friend came over with this deliciousness and we instantly fell in love!
Can I just say that one of the biggest ways someone can help a new mom out is by making the family dinner! It takes such a load off worrying about what they’re going to eat, if they need to the grocery store and simply trying to fit in the time to prepare a meal amidst feeding a newborn, taking care of the house and getting rest.
Ah…moving on from my tangent, this is such an amazingly easy and delicious meal!
There’s 3 things I love most about this recipe:
- It’s EASY!
Did I mention it’s a crock-pot meal? Yea that’s right…this is a throw in the crock-pot early morning and come home to a house smelling wonderful kind of meal. Those are the best aren’t they!? - You can use ANY type of beef you have; except ground beef.
I love this because this means I can get whatever is on sale. Typically I use sirloin steaks, but I’ve also used pot roasts and New York strips as well. To be honest…it all tastes the same so go the cheaper route. - It freezes well.
Yep, it makes a lot so you can freeze up some to pull out later when you need something fast. I prefer to make lunches for my husband that week, but either way it saves you time and money.
I seriously make this meal every other week. My kids love it which makes it even better! I also like the fact that we can mix up what we serve it with, making it like a different meal each time. I prefer it served over mashed potatoes while my husband enjoys it over white rice.
Watch for beef sales, stock up and get ready to thrill your family with this winner. I hope you enjoy this comfort meal as much as we do!
Bon Appetite!
Beef Burgandy
prep time 10 minutes / serves 4-6
Ingredients
- 3-4 strips of steak diced up (sirloin, roast, or new york strip are my recommendations)
- 8 oz package of Sliced mushrooms
- 1 packet of Onion Soup mix
- 1 can of Cream of Golden Mushroom soup
- 7-9 oz of Burgandy wine (I use cooking wine but you can use a drinking wine as well)
- Garlic Salt to taste
- Dice up steak into bite size pieces.
Tip: it is easier to dice the meat while slightly frozen. - Throw steak, mushrooms, soup mix and cream of golden mushroom soup into crock-pot.
- Add half a bottle of wine and mix. If the mixture looks very thick add a little more wine to thin out. Remember as it cooks the soup will thin out and the meat will let off juices so do not put too much wine in.
- Add garlic salt and mix well. Cook on low for 4-6 hours (mine has cooked for 8 hours while at work and is just fine). don’t worry you cannot overcook this.
- When done stir well. Add additional garlic salt if needed.
- Pour on top of mashed potatoes, rice, egg noddles, or whatever else your heart desires.
