I’ve always been a meat and potatoes kind of girl, but I’ve only had a few REALLY good steaks in my life that didn’t require drowning of steak sauce. Typically, when I want to make steak for dinner we get whatever’s on sale…usually that’s sirloin. Those of you who like themselves some meat, you’ll know that sirloin isn’t the best cut of meat. This piece usually isn’t the best in flavor so I’ve always got steak sauce on hand and typically I whip up a horseradish sauce with.
I had been craving a good steak, and I wanted something I could make at home. I came across a recipe for chimichurri and thought I’d give it a try. Here’s the thing though, it was the marinade that my husband and I fell in love with!
I mean the steak barely made it off the grill and we were already munching on it. By the time we got it cut up, it was almost completely gone. The chimichurri was pretty and tasty, but honestly we just wanted the steak by itself.
I decided this steak needed to be a weekly thing…it was THAT good! I paired the steak with a mushroom sauce the next night trying to keep dinner from being repetitive.
I PROMISE this marinade will change your life! It’s best when marinated over night, but if you’re like me and you always forget to do so it’s also great when marinated for 3 hours. This is great for a working or stay at home mom. Pop whatever steak you want into a baggie with the marinade before bed and come dinner time pull it out and grill it up. Main dish ready in 10-15 minutes.
Quick Tip: when juicing the limes and oranges, first roll them with pressure from the palm of your hand to release the juices. This will help you extract more juice.
I’d love to hear what kind of sauce you paired with your steak. Leave your dinner deats in the comments below.
Enjoy!
