Thanks for the great cookie recipe Jamie from The Family Savvy! You had me at strawberry! I can’t wait to whip these up for my kids…they’re going to love them.
Christmas comes around every year and the first thing we do is decorate, then we spend a whole day baking cookies. We make about 5 different cookies on average but my husband’s personal favorite are his grandma’s cookies. That’s exactly how I’ve always known them as…”grandma’s famous cookies”. Every year at the family Christmas gathering grandma would show up with cookies in hand and everyone flocked to them like it was a black Friday free TV deal.
The family would talk about these cookies at every gathering throughout the year, wondering if grandma would show up with them. No one else ever made them, but when we moved to another state I finally was given the coveted recipe.
Ever since then I have made them every year for my husband. Now my kids love them and it’s hard to keep everyone back from eating them all in one sitting.
This recipe couldn’t be any easier! There are very few ingredients, most of which I usually have on hand already. It’s quick and so easy that anyone could make it. The most important tip I can give you is to make sure you unwrap your kisses prior to starting the cookies.
Once you drop the cookies make sure you wait a few seconds for the cookies to cool enough that the chocolate won’t melt but don’t wait so long that they start to harden.
I love that I am carrying on this tradition for my kids, especially since we don’t live by my husband’s family. This is the little piece of his grandma he gets to share with the kids.
I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Light Karo Syrup
- 18 oz Jar Crunchy Peanut Butter (2 1/4 Cups)
- 2 1/2 Cups Special K Cereal
- 1 bag Chocolate Kisses
-
Unwrap 24-26 kisses and lay out wax paper.
-
Stir sugar and Karo syrup together and bring to boil for 1 minute. Do not cook too long or it will start to harden up.
-
Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter and cereal.
-
Drop by the spoonful onto wax paper. Let cool for a few seconds then add kisses to the top by pressing down gently.
-
Let sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes until cookie can be lifted from wax paper in one piece.
-
Serve and enjoy!

You’re so funny Jackie, “everyone flocked to them like it was a black Friday free TV deal.” I’ll have to make them for Bry – these so have his name written all over them!
